We deliver railway expertise to our clients in Central Asia and expand our team of consultants willing to acquire and deliver projects in different countries of the region. We are looking currently for a Consultant for Rolling Stock Maintenance & Defect Management to support various engineering and consulting projects and to become part of our local team in Astana, Kazakhstan.
- Provide technical expertise on rolling stock condition, performance, and maintenance requirements.
- Review and optimize maintenance strategies, schedules, and documentation.
- Analyze maintenance data to identify defects, trends, and system performance issues.
- Interpret purchase, warranty, and maintenance contract obligations and ensure technical compliance.
- Manage defect reporting: record, categorize, track, and verify corrective actions.
- Conduct technical root‑cause assessments and prepare structured defect reports.
- Lead and track technical claims with manufacturers and suppliers, including evidence documentation.
- Support pre‑inspections and acceptance activities using checklists, punch lists, and specification reviews.
- Identify, document, and validate non‑conformities during factory or site inspections.
- Coordinate technical topics between OEMs, operators, maintenance teams, and customer stakeholders.
- Provide clear, engineering‑focused communication in complex multi‑stakeholder environments.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Rail Vehicle Technology, or similar
- Several years of experience in the rolling stock industry (maintenance, commissioning, engineering, operations)
- Proven knowledge of purchase and maintenance contract structures for rolling stock
- Strong experience in defect and claim management for rolling stock
- Hands-on experience with vehicle inspections, test procedures, and technical documentation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills
- Clear, structured, and solution‑oriented working style
- Strong analytical skills and technical understanding
- High level of diplomacy and resilience in complex stakeholder environments
- Ability to work independently and proactively
- Fluent in English; Russian and/or Kazakh is an advantage
- Willingness to travel and work in an international environment
