We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Railway Operation Manager (m/f/d) for a Technical Advisory project for OSE in Athens, Greece. As Railway Operation Manager you will be responsible to review, improve and manage the operation plan and scheduling, as well as the implementation of ERMTS for the Greek Railways in collaboration with both DB E&C team members and the client OSE to ensure profitable, safe and efficient operation. Your focus will be on improving the efficiency and safety of railway operation.
- Supporting the operation of Traffic Management Centers to ensure continuous coordination and optimal network capacity allocation.
- Review and actively manage OSE’s railway operation plan, scheduling and processes
- Strengthening operational coordination between traffic controllers/monitors, maintenance crews, and railway operators
- Support for the introduction of modern operational planning, scheduling, and monitoring procedures through integrated digital systems
- Coordination for the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the management of delays, disruptions, and emergency situations
- Optimization of network utilization through dynamic capacity management and improved route reliability
- Monitoring of key operational indicators, such as route accuracy, infrastructure availability, mean time to repair (MTTR), and network capacity utilization
- Facilitation of direct communication and escalation protocols between operational units
- Support for planning the transition to ETCS Level 2, the new FRMCS system, and innovations such as Digital Automatic Coupling
- Support for the design and commissioning of a single Network Control Center and the geolocation systems
- Responsibility to achieve the performance targets (KPI) related to efficiency, safety and quality of railway operation
- Successfully completed university degree in railway, electrical or mechanical engineering or similar and relevant professional experience in a comparable, complex role
- Experience in the implementation and/or operation of ETCS on mainline railways
- Experience in managing railway networks, e.g. in a responsible OCC position or network planning position
- Minimum of 10 years’ work experience in similar tasks
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in railway infrastructure management in a environment governed by European regulations
- Additional qualifications in project management
- You impress with your impartial moderation skills and intercultural sensitivity
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Fluency in English mandatory; German and Greek would be an advantage
- Familiarity with Greek administrative business standards
