The Senior Subject Matter Expert Quality Assurance and Control will support engineering projects within the rail and transit sector focusing on new vehicle procurement and rebuilds of existing vehicles, including locomotives, multiple units, rail cars, and buses. This role encompasses technical subject matter expertise related to manufacturing quality including on-site inspections, first article inspections and participation in design reviews. This position works independently and as part of a team, which in-cludes other subject matter experts and management consultants, and will require supervision of team members and subcontractors.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Support rolling stock engineering projects from concept to completion in passenger rail and transit, including new vehicle procurement and modifications to existing equipment.
- Manage technical aspects of rail and transportation projects.
- Support teams, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and the timely delivery of vehicles to the speci-fied quality level.
- Serve as a technical liaison with clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors.
- Produce high quality deliverables, such as inspection reports, within budget and scope.
- Conduct first article inspections.
- Conduct inspections of manufacturing and built quality of rail vehicles and buses, pre- and post-delivery.
- Supervise a team of inspectors, including subcontractors, during audits.
- Organize and conduct quality audits.
- Participate in design reviews and ensure quality process and gates are included and imple-mented.
- Implement QA/QC procedures for engineering models, simulations, and technical deliverables, ensuring accuracy and reliability while driving continuous improvement in methodologies, processes, and tools.
- Support client relations, marketing activities, scope development, and contract negotiations.
- Support procurement and rebuilds of rail vehicles and buses often with zero emission power-trains, ensuring construction to standards and specifications.
Requirements:
• Degree in engineering or related field and experience with rail vehicle and transit procurements focusing on quality assurance and control.
• Experience with zero-emission vehicles.
• Experience working with Intercity Railway, Regional Rail, Urban Light/Heavy Rail and Transit Agencies.
• Experience with regulatory bodies, including the FRA/FTA in relation to rail vehicles and buses.
