We are seeking a Digital Solution Expert - Bus Operations as part of our DB Engineering & Consulting GmbH Branch Office. The job opening is located in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and offers exciting challenges and potential for career growth.
- Responsible for identifying, implementing, and optimizing digital systems that support efficient, safe, and customer-focused bus operations. The role bridges operational needs and technology solutions, ensuring digital tools deliver measurable improvements in performance, reliability, and passenger experience.
- Lead the deployment and optimization of digital solutions for bus operations (e.g., ITS, AVL, CAD/AVL, APC, fare systems, depot systems)
- Act as a subject-matter expert for operational digital platforms and tools
- Ensure systems align with operational requirements, service planning, and safety standards
- Enable the effective use of operational data to support decision-making and performance management
- Define data requirements, dashboards, and KPIs for bus operations
- Support data integration between operational systems and enterprise platforms.
- Translate operational needs into clear functional and technical requirements
- Support procurement, vendor management, testing, and system acceptance
- Coordinate system rollouts, upgrades, and change management activities.
- Support operations teams in using digital tools effectively
- Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve operational efficiency
- Contribute to service reliability, fleet utilization, and incident management through digital solutions
- Work closely with operations, IT, planning, safety, and maintenance teams
- Liaise with technology vendors, integrators, and consultants
- Support training and documentation for operational staff.
- Bachelor’s degree holder in Information Systems, Engineering, Transportation, or a related field.
- Total minimum of 5-8 years plus experience in digital solutions, ITS, or systems implementation in bus operations or public transport.
- Strong understanding of bus operations processes and workflow.
- Experience with CAD/AVL, real-time passenger information, fare collection, or depot management systems
- Knowledge of ITS standards and data protocols (e.g., GTFS, GTFS-RT, SIRI, APIs)
- Experience with cloud platforms, system integration, or cybersecurity principles.
- Experience working with Ministry, Government Agencies, Public & Private Stakeholders in the Middle East.
- Preferably proficiency in Arabic language, speaking, writing & reading. Plus, English language skills both spoken and written.
