We are seeking for a Environmental Risk Management Expert as a part of our DB Engineering & Consulting GmbH Branch Office. The job opening is located in Cairo, Egypt, and offers exciting challenges and potential for career growth.


Responsibilities:


  • Be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating environmental risks that may impact an organization's operations, compliance, and overall sustainability. 
  • Provide expert knowledge in environmental risk management in rail transport projects; specific experience in environmental risk management according to local law.  
  • Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to develop strategies and implement measures to manage and mitigate environmental risk effectively. 
  • Supervise the implementation of the approved environmental, social and health and safety management plans.
  • Undertake audits, supervisions and/or inspections of any sites where the contractor is undertaking activities under its contract, to verify the contractor’s compliance with ES requirements.
  • Review and consider environmental risks from design proposals, design changes and work implementation.
  • Review and critique, in a timely manner, the contractor’s ES documentation (including regular reports and incident reports) regarding the accuracy and efficacy of the documentation.
  • Investigate the root causes of accidents/ incidents and oversee implementation of corrective action plans, implementation of associated corrective measures and action plans.
  • Meet regularly with the project team to provide project updates/progress and share and follow up on relevant information.  
  • Develop and implement strategies collaboratively with various teams to identify and manage environmental risks effectively.
  • Prepare regular reports , summarizing key environmental risk indicators, mitigation efforts, and progress.
  • Assiste in the preparation of progress reports and type deliverables in English. 
  • Attend project meetings / workshops for technical input and follow up environmental risk management related matters.
คุณสมบัติ
Qualifications:


  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in environmental science, environmental management or equivalent. 
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in environmental risk management or sustainability in transport projects.  
  • In-depth knowledge of international and national Egyptian environmental regulations and standards.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in similar working position. 
  • Knowledge in development and implementation of social risk management policies and guidelines of IFI’s aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. 
  • Previous experience with comparable projects in the Middle East region. 
  • Full computer literacy. 
  • Excellent knowledge of English language; Arabic language is an advantage.
