We are seeking for a Railway Operations Expert as a part of our DB Engineering & Consulting GmbH Branch Office. The job opening is located in Cairo, Egypt, and offers exciting challenges and potential for career growth.
- Assess performance of rail operations on the lines being part of the project before and after the planned investment measures.
- Recommend the best characteristics of railway infrastructure and railway operations and enforce railway safety regulations during the project lifespan.
- Consult the employer in terms of works “under the rolling wheel”.
- Assess of contractor’s work schedules, method statements, testing & commissioning plans, requests for track possessions, etc. and evaluate their impact on traffic operations on the existing line sections and junctions (including the adjacent ones).
- Review the contractors construction logistics approach, plans and coordination with responsible stakeholders and when required, perform railway operations risk management with other members of the project team.
- Ensure that project in terms of rail operations complies with legal requirements, especially health and safety during the project lifespan.
- Review training plans and programmes for operators and maintainers proposed by the contractor in cooperation with the concerned technical experts of the project team.
- Meet regularly with the project team to provide project updates/progress and share/follow up on relevant information with external parties as well as the client.
- Assist in the preparation of technical progress reports in the English language.
- Strong background in coordination of activities with relation to contractor and client interfacing on a similar railway project previously.
- Troubleshoot and investigate faults, accidents, incidents etc. at all stages of the project.
- Attend project meetings/ workshops for technical input and follow up all related operations related matters.
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in railways transport projects and railway operations.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar position.
- Previous experience with comparable projects in the Middle East region would be an advantage.
- Experience in the organization and supervision of operational matters related to the installation, testing and commissioning of new railway infrastructure components and railway systems.
- Experience of organisation of train traffic “under the rolling wheel“ and dealing with track possessions, temporary train schedules, coordination with construction companies, etc.
- Knowledge of modern signalling systems and understand traditional signalling systems in the context of modern operational traffic movement.
- Full computer literacy.
- Excellent knowledge of English language; Arabic language is an advantage.
