We are seeking a Bus Operations Planning Expert as part of our DB Engineering & Consulting GmbH Branch Office. The job opening is located in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and offers exciting challenges and potential for career growth.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for designing, optimizing, and continuously improving bus service operations to ensure efficient, reliable, and customer-focused public transport. This role combines data analysis, service planning, and cross-functional coordination to translate mobility needs into practical, cost-effective bus operations.
  • Develop and optimize bus routes, schedules, frequencies, and service plans based on demand, policy goals, and operational constraints
  • Conduct service planning studies, including network restructuring, capacity planning, and peak/off-peak optimization
  • Support short-term and long-term operational planning, including special events, disruptions, and growth scenarios
  • Analyzing ridership, travel patterns, on-time performance, headway adherence, and fleet utilization
  • Use planning and scheduling software to model service scenarios and assess operational impacts
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for bus operations.
  • Work closely with operations, scheduling, dispatch, maintenance, and customer service teams
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders such as transport authorities, municipalities, contractors, and service providers.
  • Support public consultations and internal reviews related to service changes
  • Identify efficiency improvements to reduce operating costs while maintaining or improving service quality
  • Contribute to sustainability, accessibility, and equity goals in service planning
  • Support implementation of new technologies, such as real-time data systems or electric bus operations.




Qualifiche
Qualifications:

  • Master’s / Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Operations Research or equivalent field. 
  • Total minimum of 10 years plus experience includes 4 years relevant experience in the field of bus operations planning, public transport, or a similar role. 
  • Preferably with regional and international expertise, specifically experience in the Middle East.
  • Seasoned, well experienced professional from a bus operating planning background and shall provide direction, supervision, advice and guidance on all bus operational planning matters.
  • Experience working with Ministry, Government Agencies, Public & Private Stakeholders in the Middle East.
  • Experience in big operation planning and can handle multi-national workforce. 
  • Preferably proficiency in Arabic language, speaking, writing & reading. Plus, English language skills both spoken and written. 
  • Only Muslim Applicants – Work Location: Makkah City.  
  • Full Computer Literacy, proficiency in planning/scheduling tools & data analysis software (e.g. scheduling systems, Excel, GIS, or similar)
  • Excellent communication skills are essential to success in this role.
  • Driving license required to drive to site or to technical meetings with the client representative.
