Introduction

DB Cargo UK is currently recruiting for an NRCC Visual Disruption Map Manager to join our NRCC department based at our Head Office in Doncaster on a 12 month fixed term contract. 

As the Disruption Maps Manager within the NRCC, you will be responsible for ensuring the overall quality and timely delivery of visual disruption maps to the railway industry. You will manage a team of Video Creator who create visual disruption maps for the general public to use. 

The National Rail Communication Centre (NRCC) supports UK Train Operating Companies by communicating the latest travel information via National Rail Enquiries, empowering passengers to make an informed decision about their journey.

National Rail Enquiries is the main source of customer information for all passenger rail services in England, Wales and Scotland. National Rail Enquiries is part of the Rail Delivery Group (RDG) which provides business services to Train Operating Companies.

What will you be doing?

As the Visual Disruption Maps Manager within the NRCC, you will ensure the quality and timely delivery of visual disruption maps and manage stakeholder expectations. Acting as the key liaison between the NRCC, Train Operating Companies (TOCs), Network Rail, and other stakeholders, you will oversee the team responsible for both planned and unplanned disruption events. Your leadership will ensure efficient workflows, while fostering a proactive and productive culture within the team.

You will manage the performance of the shift in line with established standards and guidelines, utilising performance management, reward, and recognition procedures to address issues as they arise. Additionally, you will write scripts for real-time disruptive events and assist with training and development needs, ensuring that staff are equipped with the necessary tools and resources to perform their roles effectively.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all IT and technical equipment used for content creation is operational and suitable for producing high-quality videos. This includes overseeing the creation, uploading, and management of video content, as well as coordinating with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure timely and consistent communication. You will also analyse video performance and provide reports, helping to drive continuous improvement.

Your duties will include responding to emergencies, managing video updates, and ensuring that all processes comply with relevant protocols. You will collaborate with the NRCC Management Team to ensure clear communication and the effective dissemination of information to both staff and customers.

You will have excellent communication skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders. 

The ideal candidate will be organised, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines efficiently. They should excel in crisis management, make quick decisions under pressure, and use data-driven insights to improve processes. 

Technical expertise in video production is beneficial but not essential.
