For Saudi Arabia, we are looking for a passionate Transportation Systems Safety Engineer (m/f/d).
- Participate in safety studies including hazard identification, hazard analysis, risk assessments, and ALARP demonstrations, ensuring compliance with EN 50126/50129 and project safety objectives.
- Review and comment on safety-related technical submittals, including RAMS documentation, safety assurance plans, safety cases, V&V reports, SIL allocations, and safety analyses prepared by the D&B Contractor.
- Support inspections, NCR processes, construction quality checks, and field safety verifications to ensure all installations align with safety requirements and contractual obligations.
- Monitor safety impacts and risks arising from design changes, construction activities, temporary works, system integration, or testing & commissioning activities.
- Provide safety oversight for testing & commissioning activities, including validation of emergency scenarios, degraded modes, fail‑safe behaviours, and safety‑critical functions.
- Coordinate cross-disciplinary safety issues across signalling, rolling stock, telecoms, power, PSDs, ventilation/smoke management, station systems, and depot operations.
- Support PMCM, O&M Entity, and Employer teams in resolving safety issues, tracking mitigation actions, and ensuring proper closure of hazards and safety‑related NCRs.
- Prepare safety assessments, hazard logs, risk registers, safety compliance reports, and documentation for Employer review as part of PMCM reporting obligations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, with 12+ years of transit system safety experience
- In-depth knowledge of transit system safety practices, including RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability & Safety), hazard analysis (HAZID/HAZOP), risk management, and ALARP methodologies.
- Strong familiarity with safety standards such as EN 50126, EN 50129, EN 50716 and NFPA 130, and their application to rail and automated metro systems.
- Proven ability to review and validate safety cases, SIL classifications, hazard logs, system safety analyses, test results, and safety assurance deliverables.
- Experience supporting T&C of safety‑critical systems including signalling/ATC, rolling stock protection functions, PSD logic, ventilation/smoke management, and emergency systems.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to assess safety risks, evaluate system behaviours, and propose technically sound mitigation measures.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder‑engagement skills for working within multi‑disciplinary PMCM teams, contractors, O&M entities, and Employer representatives.
- High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and adaptability suitable for a complex, multi‑system metro megaproject environment.
