Introduction

Responsibilities: 

•     AM/Traction is required to assist Dy. HOD/Traction for various works associated with traction installations. 

•     He will carry out various checks of the installations as mandated to them from time to time. 

•     He will carry out inspections of the installations like RSS & ASS inspection, cab inspection, PF Inspection, Depot Inspection etc. 

•     He shall be responsible for various matters related to maintenance, planning of maintenance, planning of spares, upkeep of records, staff grievances appraising senior officers from time to time about the latest conditions of the system. 

•     In case of breakdown, he shall immediately arrange men & material including liaising with OCC and rush to breakdown site by any possible means available at the earliest. 

•     He should ensure that Traction Power Controller (TPC) takes effective and prompt action to restore services in the event of power supply interruptions or other failures of the distribution system affecting train services. 

•     Careful and prompt investigation of all recurring or major power supply interruptions and equipment failures and initiation of appropriate remedial measures. 

•     Effective co-ordination with officers and staff of other departments in matters that warrant joint action and similar co-ordination with officers of contiguous sections. 

•     Study of the day-to-day problems of operation and maintenance and initiation of appropriate measures to deal with these. 

•     Ensuring by periodical and surprise inspections that rules and procedures laid down in the General Rules, Manual of AC. 

•     Traction, department codes and orders and circulars issued from time to time are being complied with by all staff under him and they are performing their allotted duties efficiently. 

•     Liaison with power supply authorities regarding ensure continuity of power supply and important matters that cannot be dealt with at lower levels. 

•    Overall co-ordination with other departments to plan better utilization of Engineer’s possession required for maintenance of OHE and careful planning of maintenance works. 

•     Arrange adequate training of staff under him in the correct methods of maintenance and operation. 

•     Close association with tests and trials in the area under his jurisdiction. 

•    Random check of the procedure followed for imposition of power blocks to verify that all prescribed safety rules are being rigidly followed.

Qualification: 

• B.Tech / Diploma. 

• Experience 7 Years above.

• FOCS / ROCS Relevant Experience Required.

• Knowledge of electrical works switching and maintaining of energy systems (transformer maintaining, basic 3 phase Switchgear, Cooling of Power Systems). 

• Developing Relationships with different specialized energy suppliers.

• Experience in railway maintenance (signalling and power supply).

• Experience in writing reports
