Introduction

DB Cargo UK are currently recruiting for a Wagon Fleet Manager (Performance & Analysis) to join the Service Design team at Doncaster Lakeside. The Wagon Fleet Manager is responsible for developing and implementing the strategic vision for the asset management, of the DB Cargo UK wagon fleet.


The role is responsible in supporting the Senior Wagon Efficiency Manager in delivering efficient steering, planning and controlling of the overall DB Cargo (UK) Ltd. wagon fleet and to support the DB Cargo UK sales team by leading on wagon issues and identifying additional wagon resource. 


Responsibilities

What will you be doing?


Provide and understand commercial and Financial information related to making the correct business decisions. 


Assist with any development of DB Cargo UK IT applications used to enable efficient wagon steering, planning and control. 


Generate management information for wagons, e.g. wagon utilisation, availability, short sets, wagons awaiting maintenance.


Analyse reports to identify trends within flows to either escalate to SWFEM or challenge flow manager. 


Liaising daily with Service Delivery Manager and the Wagon Maintenance Team, providing steering actions on short sets, wagon repairs and revisions.


Manage the wagon damage claims process, liaising with the relevant service delivery managers. 


Organise / order wagon placement for new traffics and movements in/out of storage or maintenance.


 Collaborate with key stakeholders on cross functional wagon related topics. 


Liaise with the commercial team on all wagon related topics, managing the issues raised.

 

Liaise and work collaboratively alongside wagon hire companies, when needed, to ensure DBC receive the service they pay for and have the most up to date knowledge of available wagons. 


Work in close collaboration with WFM Deployment & Operations.

Qualifications

What are we looking for? 


Understanding of rail freight business both operationally and commercially. 


Self-motivated and capable of working successfully across functional boundaries and conventional reporting lines. 


Able to deliver results through their skills, knowledge and personality and by motivating and inspiring others to continuously improve their performance. 


Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.


Strong project management and analytical skills. 


Ability to solve problems, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
